These images were shot during two summer nights late June, 2011. Locations are in Kuhmo, which is in eastern Finland across Russian border. Base camp Kuikkajarvi is located at 64° 6'34.27"N, 30°24'10.33"E, and is run by wildlife photographer Lassi Rautiainen´s firm Articmedia (http://www.articmedia.fi/).
All images are shot from hides in the wilderness, because these animals are wild and avoid people. You go to a hide at around 6 pm and have to sit still the whole night and wait for the animals to wander their paths. Sometimes they come this way, sometimes they have something better to do. Of course there is some meat or fish hidden for them to even the odds. During times when there are no beast you can enjoy maybe seeing various birds and the beautiful light of northern summer night.
My camera here was Olympus E-5 with two lenses: Zuiko D 90-250mm f/2.8 and Zuiko D 300mm f/2.8. Most images are shot with 300mm plus 1.4X teleconverter, which is equivalent to 850mm in full format 35mm.
